WINTER TRYOUTS FAQ
What should I wear to tryouts?
On workshop days dancers should be dressed in fitted dance wear. (ex: booty shorts or leggings and tank top - bare midriffs are not allowed). Dancers should bring jazz shoes and tennis shoes each day. On the day of tryouts dancers should wear all black, plain black tank top and shorts/leggings are preferred. Hair should be pulled back into a clean bun each day.
What happens at tryouts?
The first two days are workshop days where dancers will learn a short combination that includes both jazz and high kick styles. This combination will be performed at the formal/final audition in small groups in front of a panel of judges.
What team am I trying out for?
This year RDT is holding separate auditions for winter and fall teams. This current audition session is for the Winter Competitive Team Jazz and High Kick teams only. Dancers who make the team will be assigned to Varsity, JV, or B-squad in October when the season begins. Please click on Rogers Fall Performance Team above to be taken to their site for information on their tryout process.
How many people make the team?
There isn't a set number of people who make the team each season. RDT is looking for dancers at all experience levels and we will accept as many dancers as possible who are a good fit for our team.
I want to tryout but I have a conflict, what should I do?
